Update, 9 years later!

I can’t believe it’s been nine years since my second MKTP was done in 2014. I wanted to share this update because my pigmentation smoothed out much better than the photos in the post before this.

Here’s some more photos of progress along the way:

2023 – My face is turned away, but I’ve grown a short beard and the hairs in the area are still white. But my beard is so salt and pepper now that it’s not too noticeable.

Undergoing MKTP (Melanocyte-Keratinocyte Transplantation Procedure) has been a life-changing experience for me. It has not only improved the appearance of my skin affected by vitiligo but also given me a newfound sense of confidence. In the past, my vitiligo was a constant source of worry and preoccupation. However, since the procedure, I often find myself not even thinking about it anymore.

If you have been diagnosed with segmental vitiligo and are looking for a potential treatment option, I highly recommend consulting with dermatologists who specialize in the MKTP procedure. They can assess your individual case and help determine if this treatment is suitable for you. In my personal experience, MKTP has helped me tremendously, and I believe it could potentially benefit others in a similar situation.

Remember, everyone’s journey with vitiligo is unique, and what worked for me may not be the best option for everyone. It’s essential to have an open discussion with your healthcare provider to explore the various treatment options available and make an informed decision based on your specific needs and goals.

I just want to say thank you. I found ur blog and this has been so encouraging. Your results are amazing and I am happy for you. This procedure can also be done on scars now and will bring hope so many people. Thanks again!

  2. hi! It’s me again.. I finally have a date to get this procedure done with Dr Hamzavi toward the end do this summer! Your results are amazing & I’m happy it worked out for you! I am worried still, about the donor site scarring over. After speaking with Dr Hamzavi’s office, it sounds like a lot patients see good results, but have to usually have 2 or more sessions for full repigmentation. So that’s 2 donor sites.. I know it’s a small price to pay, if the procedure actually works. But I’m still worried. Could you by chance send a picture of your healed donor site scars? I know you said yours healed up nicely? If not, that’s ok! You’ve been so helpful already & are helping so many that are on the fence about this, understand the procedure through your experience!
